On New Zealand's far north coast, the sun comes up straight out of the Pacific. It lights the Cavalli Islands first, then the long green headland, and then one fairway after another as it rolls down toward the sea.

This Matauri Bay golf print takes the high view along a cliff-top hole: soft, rolling turf, scattered white bunkers, a lone tree standing on the slope and native bush closing in on either side. Offshore, the islands sit dark against a sky of copper and gold. It is painted in Northland green, sea gold and warm early-morning light.
