Ask anyone in Phoenix for directions and sooner or later they'll point at the buttes. The red sandstone humps of Papago have been a landmark for centuries, and at sundown they burn so bright they seem lit from inside.

This Papago golf print takes the high view across the desert floor, where emerald fairways and pale bunkers are laid like patches between creosote, mesquite and the odd tall palm. A cart path winds up the middle toward a low adobe clubhouse, and the buttes rise beyond under a sky full of orange and slate cloud. It is painted in fairway green, desert sand and glowing red rock.
